Curriculum - PDMU
‘Personal Development and Mutual Understanding (PDMU) focuses on encouraging each child to become personally, emotionally, socially and physically effective; to lead healthy, safe, fulfilled lives and to become confident, independent and responsible citizens, making informed, responsible choices and decisions throughout their lives.
The purpose of PDMU as a separate Area of Learning within the primary curriculum is to provide the opportunity for specific attention to be given to personal and emotional development, health and safety, relationships with others and develop a greater understanding of their place in the community and of its interdependent nature.’
To date within this curricular area, we have developed a positive lunchtime ethos where children are happy, engaged and independent. Our school council has been up and running for many years and the children have been enjoying making decisions for the greater good of the school and community. The senior children have been enjoying being more involved in the school House Points system and regular house meetings have been a lot of fun.
Our priorities for this academic year are:

-
Curriculum leader to deepen knowledge of the PDMU strands/progression within each key stage.
-
To increase the effectiveness of the pupil voice within the school environment. (School Council)
-
To mutually establish our school values and integrate them throughout the whole
